What You'll Do:
Build & Strengthen Clinical Partnerships
Secure new clinical sites and negotiate contractual agreements with healthcare facilities across Tucson.
Serve as the bridge between Pima Medical Institute and OR managers, ensuring our students have access to high-quality, hands-on training environments.
Visit clinical sites regularly to evaluate student performance and collaborate with site instructors to ensure clinical excellence.
Ensure Student Success
Maintain an 80% student success rate by monitoring progress, meeting with students who need support, and implementing retention strategies.
Evaluate student competencies and clinical records, ensuring every graduate is prepared to sit for the national certification exam.
Coordinate clinical and didactic education, working closely with the Program Director to refine the clinical education plan.
Teach & Mentor
Step into the classroom as needed—prepare lesson plans and instruct students in Surgical Technology methods and techniques.
Serve as a clinical coach, turning real-world OR experiences into teachable moments.
Lead with Precision
Maintain student grades, prepare final transcripts, and ensure all clinical documentation meets accreditation standards.
Coordinate student scheduling at clinical sites and develop clinical objectives and evaluations.
Required:
Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential through an NCCA-accredited national certification program.
Graduation from an accredited Associate program (Bachelor’s degree preferred).
Three (3) years of operating room experience in the scrub role within the last five (5) years.
A passion for mentorship—whether through three years of teaching experience in a Surgical Technology program or through your experience as a preceptor in the OR.
Strong communication skills and the ability to build trust with hospital administrators, surgeons, and students alike.
